Question:
Right I was going for the Pioneer system from Homecinema heaven but the misus has decided she wants a new couch when we move so my funds have been deleted by about £150. So now I have about £300 now.
So should I go for the Pioneer DCS303 from here here (http://www.movement-audio.co.uk/website/pioneer-dcs303.html)
Or I could go for ultra cheap and get the Limit DVHT400 from richer sounds for £150 here (http://www.richersounds.co.uk/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=300348/) and I could use the extra cash and buy her some new pots or something.
Any advise cheers
Stu
Gp for the Pioneer. Personally I have never had any liking of the cheap all in one systems as the speaker packages don't seem to be that good even if the players are ok.
However I haven't read a review of either so not sure if that Pioneer is good or not.
BTW you link to the Pioneer has an extra / at the end which stops it working!
i have the 303 , everybody thats seen it in action has got one . make sure you get a m/r one mate . ill post a link to the cheapest one i can find , on this post .
here's the link http://www.movement-audio.co.uk/website/pioneer-dcs303.html
go get it:thumbs: .

Stu, it all depends what your requirements are, if you want a top notch outfit with enough power to fill the Albert Hall, Dolby Pro Logic II, optical in for future proofing, great picture and Multi region play back then go for the Pioneer DCS 303. If you don't need these features then by all means go for the Limit. If price is a factor you could also consider the Samsung HT- DM150 which you can get for £240 and has great reviews on this site and from What Video.
I have the Pioneer and I am over the moon with it, in the end you pays your money and takes your choice. Having been down the cheap and cheerful route twice, I am finally very happy with the Pioneer.
Right folks I have had a look at some sites and this lot seem to be good:
http://www.be-direct.co.uk/searchResults.asp
Are any of them players any good? They have that samsung one on there but the Toshiba just below that looks ok to.
Any more advice
Cheers
Stu
They both look ok, but they aren't multi-region by the look of it.
Can I ask a question to the owners of the Pioneer303...
Does it have audio inputs, so I can connect my video / sky box for surround sound? Oh and does it play DVDr touble free?
Cheers.

yes
i don't know i haven't tried DVDr on it .
Looks like it will support DVD-R and and +R but with mixed results depending on media and burn speed. Take a look at vcdhelp for more info on suppoted media.
If I got the Samsung would I be able to connect my Xbox to it so I could I play games in 5.1 sound? If I can then I'm gonna get that one.

The Samsung has a Digital Optical in, so I would say the answer is yes.
I would also make sure the multi region hack works okay before proceeding.
Hello again folks. I have been looking around and have checked through this forum and now I have a couple more options.
Toshiba SD42HK £249 Multiregion from multizonedvd (http://www.multizonedvd.co.uk/acatalog/Multizonedvd_com_Toshiba_SD42HK_68.html)
or
JVC TH-A5R Digital Cinema System (Multiregion) £249 also from multizonedvd (http://www.multizonedvd.co.uk/acatalog/Multizonedvd_com_JVC_TH_A5R_Digital_Cinema_System_341.html)
or
Samsing HTDM150 (apparently remote multiregion hackable) for £249 from BE BE Direct (http://www.be-direct.co.uk/productDetails.asp?id=11376)
What are your opinions on these systems? Which one should I go for? I would really like to get seperates but I don't have to money right now. Would I be ablt to get a decent Amp/reciever and Speakers for £250/£300? My Dvd player does not have a build in decoder or amp.
Please help I am getting really confused now.
Cheers
Stu
As you already have the DVD player I would have thought that you would be better off looking at the Videologic DTS or Platinum systems. They seem to rave about them here!
Just a thought!
Dave
I think that Richer Sounds are still doing their 14 day trial, which might be worth bearing in mind. If you have a trial you can trust your ears (in your own home) to make the choice rather than opinions.
Obviously this is only relevent if the equipment you are looking for is from Richer Sounds!!
Richer Sounds Example:
Eltax Spectrum - £99.95 (5.1 Speaker Package)
Yamaha RXV430RDS - £199.95 (DD, DTS, Pro Logic II)
Hey Presto!!! £300 quid and you can try it home! If you don't like it, take it back!!! If you do like it, it will give you more future upgrade options!!!
Hope this helps,
Chorlton
Cheers Chorlton, I think I will pop into richer sounds and have a look. Are the folks that work in Richer sounds any good? Do they know what they are on about?
Stu
I have had fairly good experiences with Richer Sounds. They seem OK but it depends on who you get (the same anywhere, I find). Good advice and recommendations are available from this very forum!!!!
It would be worth checking out whether the 14 day trial is still running before making a trip. Also, if you are looking for a particular item ring them first. Shops are small and so don't carry a lot of stock, especially the cheaper stuff which shifts well.
Ta Ra,
Chorlton
PS - I don't recommend the system I described. It is just an example of the sort of kit you may be able to afford if you have a DVD player already. On the other hand it is hard not to recommend Yamaha AV equipment.

Be careful of them recommending their cheaper stuff that they try to push through as it has a higher profit margin for them. I find it best to go there with a couple of choices in your head and already researched. Their warranty package is very good value though IIRC.
