Question:
I finally got a scart switcher so I can watch my DVD's in RGB goodness and soon as I connected it up and tested it I noticed a ghostly image behind the DVD image, you could see it clearly though and it was an AXA advert. Thought it was my ITV digi box interferring so turned it off but the image stayed. So pulled everything else out and just had the DVD connected to the TV and still getting the image. Tried two scart cables still get the image but no problems with my gamecube or Xbox. DVD player output is set to RGB and my TV picks it up as this. Any ideas to whats going on and how I solve it else I'm back to watching DVD's in S-Video again.
Loopthrough interference from another source connected to the DVD player (i.e., Scart 2) ?
The only thing connected to the DVD is the speakers. Surely it can't be interference from the aerial cable which goes into the digibox?
Aerial also connected to the telly perchance ? Likely to be interference from that (the internal tuner is often still 'live' when using an AV input). Unplug it if so.
Mike.
That sorted it in a way pull out the aerial then its underlayed by interference then this clears up. What a pain in the arse I have to pull leads out now :)
Or use ITV digi for all viewing and no need to have an aerial in your telly at all. Not been one near mine since about '92.
Mike.
But i love the old teletext :)
I'll try setting it all up again tomorrow night. Thanks for your help :notworthy
Sound like this could be a problem with a poorly screened SCART lead. From memory pin 19 of the SCART outputs the video signal from the TV tuner hence if you were watching ITV and then switched to the SCART socket input you might see some ghosting from ITV behind the DVD image. It can be solved by getting better quality SCART leads or cutting the connection to pin 19 at the TV end.
Cutting the pin worked a treat. But now when I put everything into the scart splitter the picture goes darker. The Xbox connection the worst. Gonna ask in the Computing Forum how everyone connects their stuff up.
i had the same problem with sky digital.i bought a £19.99 Acoustic solution scart lead from Argos and it solved the problem.
When I watch a DVD, I always put the TV on a untuned channel.
I was getting a flicker on the TV which was more noticeable on R1 DVD's but could just be seen on R2 as well.
I have a similair problem with sound coming through from my Tivo whilst using my cinema amp. I have to unplug the tv out scart from the tivo whilst using my dvd.
I have considered changing my scart leads, but i only remeber once ive started watching a movie
I have picked up radio on my Technics Turntable without having a radio in the room.
