Amp connection advice.
Question:

I'm going to buy a new CD player which has a digital coaxial out.
Is it best to connect to my onkyo amp via this lead or by normal phono leads?

Answers:

Depends on whether you think the CD player itself has the better DAC or the amp. Phonos if you think it's the CD, coaxial if you think it's the amp

Exactly, it all depends on what the CD player is? I would suggest try both and decide which you prefer over a large range of music. I used to have my old Pioneer DVD player (717) hooked up though phono's as it had a very good DAC but my current Panasonic is not as good so I hook up through digital. If I was to buy a CD player it would only be because it is far superiour to my DVD player at playing music and so would probably use the DAC on the CD player (otherwise there would be no real point in buying it as the transport plays less of a role)
