Question:
I wonder if anyone can help , the interference on the screen when i play a dvd is appalling...very often vertical lines slide across the screen and often on darker scenes there is clearly terrestrial tv in the back ground!??? why is this do i need a better scart lead or is the lead picking up from the video RV in!??Cheers!

It's feedback from the scart, cutting one of the wires can help, but I can't remember which one.
It sounds like you need a one way, RGB only Scart lead.
Sadly, I can't think of a link at the moment but the usual manufacturers should have something suitable.

I'm having similar symptoms but I'm using a component cable. Any ideas on that one?
o you use a scart switchbox? I used to have one that also worked as a Scart coupler and led to interference..the one I have now needs to be switched before the signal is routed.
Ah.....the joys of SCART connections. They are The Work Of The Devil.
Yes, probably what is happening is, that the TV channel being received by the TV tuner, is being output from the TV's SCART socket into the cable you are using, where it is interfering with the incoming signal from the DVD.
Try this: before playing a DVD, tune the TV into a channel that has nothing on it - or disconnect it's aerial. Either way, so that the TV tuner is showing 'snow'. If this cures, improves, or changes the problem, you have your confirmation of the cause.
And the solution, then, is, indeed, to use a unidirectional SCART cable (if you can find one) OR (if you are using 'Video' or 'SVideo' connections, rather than RGB - buy separate cables plus one of those little SCART adaptors that converts a SCART into separate sockets.
Reading LV426's message reminds me that on my Sony TV you can select which AV socket the TV sends its output to. You may have something similar you can try.
