Try £50/60 or £100 plus if you do it mail order, its best buying dvd players multiregion, its usually only about £20 more when bought new.

remember lots of cheapo sony mods can't play RCE discs
As said above, most Sony players need a ship (although I have a feeling there are a couple which can be done with an engineers remote but they cost a similar amount to a chip unless you can rent one)
If you don't have one yet and must get a Sony player then buy it ready MR, otherwise look at Pioneer players etc which can be had ready MR very easily, or look to the cheaper players for ones which can be "handset hacked"
you can rent the solderless upgrade remote from us for most current Sony players , see our solderless upgrade summary table for details

You need to get CD-Rs that are very reflective.
Princo discs normally work in Sony players.
Cheers for the tips - not for me actually and the player was purchased a while back
Thanks anyway
If it's a "DVP" model have a look here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Sony%20DVP-NS900
You'll need a programmable remote though.
