Question:
Hi,
I'm experiencing a lot a breakup (noise and black flecks on bright edges) on my Panasonic NV825 SVHS-ET's VCR's playback (mainly just in EP mode and sometimes in LP in VHS mode).
I'm hoping its a dirty head. I've tried a wet type cleaner from Argos but its been used a few times before during the 16 months I've had the machine.
I don't really wanna open it up to manually clean it (I've done it before on other machines) but was wondering if anyone knows of a really good head cleaner tape.
I use to be able to use a Trackmate one that had special brushes on it but the Panasonic just spits it out!
Any ideas?
Thanks

dunno, what tapes do you use normally?
Hi,
I use mainly branded but basic high grade tapes like JVC and Sony.
I got bored last night so disconnected it all and carefully cleaned the head and tape path. The picture in standard play looks a bit less noisy but its still not really any good with EP and LP and using a TDK SVHS tape in EP mode just fills the picture with white sparkles.
Its shafted. I ain't buying a Panasonic VCR again and to be honest I don't know if its worth fixing as there at nearly disposable prices these days.
Roll on cheap HD/DVD recorders!!
