Question:
Eltax Atomic A8 from Richer Sounds (£20 off as it was a display model).
Went for the last year or so thinking I didn't really need a subwoofer as my room isn't that big, but - WOW - what a difference!
How much did you get it for??? Do you think its any good?
I got the a12 from richer sounds for £150 online last year, within 3 days, the online price went up £50! With films it is superb, i'm a bit unhappy with music performance though (concerts and so on..) Still for that price, you cant complain!
I have an eltax A10 and initially I was a little disappointed with its musical abilities, but after about 4 months of playing a wide range of music, I think its improved. At first it sounded muddled, almost as if it couldn't keep up with the bass line, but now it works really quite nicely. These Eltax subs will never compete with a REL or whatever, but for the price, I think the performance is excellent. Movies sound very nice.

£100 and yes (well, it works) in that order.
*edit*
I'd just like to note that I was previously very happy with my surround sound setup, but I just thought "sod it - I'll get a sub" and I'm amazed at the difference it makes.
I had one of these as my first sub and it was pretty good, although when i set it up using a test tones there wasnt much difference between it and my tannoy MX3's but as a partner to smallish speakers its great......
Just to annoy bouncingjohn ..... it can be had here (http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/product_main.asp?sku=108209) for £84.85 delivered :p

Does anyone know what sort of cable i would need to connect this sub to my amp?

Presuming your amp has a sub pre-out then a standard phono will do the job. The other choice on some subs it a speaker level passthrough which takes the signal headed for a front speaker and uses that. The former is the more popular and best method.
I actually nearly bought an 8" Sub today, but I live in an apartment and don't think the neighbours would be too happy with me if I did!
