Question:
Hi,
I put a rented DVD into my Philips player, it immediately opened the drawer and displayed "blocked".
I tried other DVDs, but it just kept spitting them out.
I thought I'd give it a break and switched it off at the mains, then back on and now none of the buttons work and nothing is on the display.
The DVD was an ordinary pal cert 15.
What has gone wrong, and is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thanks,
Mike
This maybe a parental blocked you may need to change it this to about 8. You need to know the code first !

Thanks - the kids all deny playing with the settings - there was no parental control set, so why should they.
As for finding the code - I guess it would be in the manual? Is there a standard code for each player?
Cheers,
Mike
Yes the standard code will be in the manual unless it has been changed it will not work:)

Did he get an answer to his question beforehand?

Thanks for the info.
My kids deny playing with the settings, why would they there were no restrictions set. Is it just random memory corruption?
How do I set it back to normal? (I may just take it back to Safeway and get my money back - there is a local shop doing a multi-region grundig player for £85)

The manual should have all this info. Although re-reading the initial description it may be more serious and worth returning if the manual doesn't help (even with parental control it should still switch on and light up etc)
Appologies if you are not the same Mike as last night and this is all just a co-incidence... otherwise...
EDIT: Looks like we were right ;)
As the thread starter is baned I can see no reason to keep this open.
