Wow what a great forum!
I need some help/advice in buying a cinema home package. All that i have at the moment is a 40" Toshiba Rear projection television and a dvd player..oh and a ps2.
I am looking at small speaker packages that deliver great sound and bass. I am also looking for a amp reciever to power everything.
This has interested me what do you guys think...have you heard any reviews about this..

The only problem is that its silver...no prob with me but the wife is nagging as she would prefer black to match the tv and video etc.
I am looking to buy the whole setup in a few weeks.

I'm looking to get the whole setup in about a few weeks..i have around £600 may be a little bit more:rolleyes: I have been reading some of the views on the fs1's and fs2's........like the fs1's tho but having trouble getting the wife to agree as the speakers are silver:mad:

Make sure you listen to the FS1's against a set of traditional sub/sat speakers - I listened to them against a set of Kef Eggs, and the FS1's, although amazing for their size, lacked in midrange.
£600 to spend including the amp, hmm, will get on the case later on.
Try the Richer Sounds website for a start. As an example, they have the Marantz SR4300 in black for £260 and the Mission Cinema 6-pack for £200. That'll leave you enough left over for 10 DVDs...
I bought that speaker package for £300 and it is superb value for movies. Never heard the Marantz, but I've heard people say it sounds good. Of course, for another £150 you could get the Mission FS2/AV speaker package which, though not black, may be more wife friendly...

I've just been looking at the 'KEF KHT 2005' 'eggs' you call em..lol they have great reviews. I have seen them online for £620...a little out my budget...but hey at least there black:clap: will have to talk to the wife:brickwall
What do you guys think of these speakers, I would also be playing normal cds via the kef kht 2005 - if i was to go for these:smokin: would these handle normal cds ok.
Have these been seen cheaper anywhere else....

Went to the demo yesterday..and took a few dvds with me. Well what can I say:eek: 'AWESOME':thumbs: the sound the speakers deliver are amazing..so small in size but very punchy.
At the end of the demo the manager asked how id got on...told him that they were great and were looking to buy them next week.
So he said something like thats £740 :rolleyes: I was like - I came in here last week and was told that you can match the price that i had seen them for...(£620...the guy who said that they can match the price also gave me his card and wrote the make and model of the speakers and the price:nuts: )so i basically showed the manager and he said OK we will do them for the same!
OK so im gona be ordering them today...as the gota be in black.
My concern is now the amp..I was originally gona get the 'Yamaha rx-v430rds' but was told by r sounds that that amp will not be able to drive the kef kht 2005's that well as the amp power is 65wpc, where as the speakers are 100 wpc.
What are your thoughts on this....I still have to make my mind up about the amp which is a little more powerfull than the model above. I also would like the amp to have something of A & B switches. This is for so i can attach 2 seperate speakers to the amp like switch B which will controll two normal speakers which I will use for my music....Can anyone help me find a amp that does that??

Well after spending alot more on the kef kht 2005's....I have around £250 MAX:suspect: I have seen the yamaha amp which the speakers were demoed with and it sounded awesome! The amp again is a award winner has 5 stars and is only £200...but need other ppls veiws...model number 'Yamaha rx-v430rds' like i said above its 65wpc...where as the kefs are 100wpc...will this still be ok? Or can you recome'd a better value one....must have av receiver tho.

I've got the Yamaha 630 which I think is similar, just higher powered. Feature wise and for DVD's I find it great. So, spec wise, its probably the same although I'm not sure about the power issue.
The Yammy 530 might be more wife friendly as it is black.

Had a phone call this morning to say that my speakers had arrived at the shop:nuts: i have just picked them up.

A little confused over thse 2 models tho..rxv 4030 rds and rxv 530rds. The first one retails at £200 and the other at £260 (which i am going with at the moment)
The wpc seems to be the same amongst these two receivers tho...ive checked on superfi.co.uk which say its 65wpc same as the rxv4030rds...but on rsounds site it says that the rxv 530rds is 75wpc. Anyone have the correct info on these two receivers.....
From what I can tell, the main difference is the 530 has component connections and the 430 does not.

I have the speakers but no av receiver, been trying all weekend to get one. I have made up my mind into getting a yamaha rxv630 which rsounds are doing it for £320....every where else its like £400 +....i have rang all over the shot (all branches of rsounds) and they have none instock:( superfi won't match the price they simply said they can not afford to go that low.
Im just gona wait till they have some in stock as there is no way im gona pay like £400 + for one.
I've taken the speakers out the packages and they are really cool. I have already mounted the rears to the wall...and will have to get some stands for the front two but I ain't gona pay £80 for the kef ones...any ideas which ones i can get i heard plp say that you can get them from argos etc...but what abbout the fittings etc...??
Also i didn't get any wires with the speakers, i have checked the boxes and there are no wires inside them...:brickwall I also need to buy a optical lead for my dvd player/ or a coaxil lead where is the best place to get these from without putting a big whole in my pocket;)
Boy when i have my amp and everything its gona be a mission wiring it all together! I am gona need long leads as the amp is gona have to be about 6 meters away from the tv.
Its just the way the room is layed out...my questions are that can i obtain a scart lead which is up to 6/7 meters long if so where from, also i will need some phono leads (left right) which also needs to be about 6/7 meters long.
I would like to put some pictures of the room layout so i can get your veiws etc...but does anyone know where i can upload them to........:thumbs:
You'll quite often see people selling leads and wire in the Classifieds on this very site. It might be worth posting a Wanted thread in there. Other than that you should ask in the Suppliers Forum.
BTW Now you've spent all this money on some decent speakers, to go with a nice receiver, it'd be a shame to let it all down with cheap wires.

I don't think i can have real bulky wire if you get what i mean as i will have probs hiding the wires etc. We have laminate flooring in our hall - so i may have to take some of the flooring inorder to hide those big chunky wires etc.
