Question:
Hello,
I recently bought a Panasonic SC-HT75, having never owned a home theatre system before. After multiple complaints from my family whilst they were trying to sleep  , I started tinkering around with the individual volume settings.
The problem I had was that the volume of the dialogue seemed way too quiet in relation to the volume of everything else.
Does anybody have any suggestions for the settings of the individual speakers? I currently set the back and front surround speakers to 2 settings below their maximum level and put the main speaker to max.
I kept the subwoofer at its default level in relation to everything else (middle setting).
Does anybody know the best settings for each indidual speaker?
Whether you want the front and back speakers to be as loud as possible in relation to the master volume?
Is it ok to put all speakers as loud as possible to get more control of the volume by altering the master volume?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks
The Dude.
Do you have a disc with the THX optimode thing on? or any DVD with a test tone? The best thing is to use one these, and either a sound level meter, or just your ears to make sure that each channel appears to be the same volume. That's how I set mine up (With my ears, not a sound level meter!) and it's just fine. The THX optimode thing will also allow you to check that none of your speakers are out of phase, which can also make things sound a bit odd!
Of course that only set's the speakers up so you hear the audio mix in the same, or at lease simmilar way to how it was intended, which IMO is "The Best" way to set audio up, you might have other ideas though!
Thanks for the tip.
I was altering in the test mode but all speakers seemed to have a different pitch, but I'll try and use my cloth ears to get them to all the same level.
Cheers~!
