Question:
I'm after a VCR that is - shhhh! - quiet when it works. Currently have a cheap Goodmans that is a good few years old and almost silent when working. It's now started chewing up tapes, so must look for a new one.
In the last month, have been through a Sony 720, a JVC 695 (both of which got v.good reviews) and a Sanyo 792. All were taken back - they were very LOUD when working. A distinct buzz and whirr could be heard from the tape mechanism when playing or recording, enough to be heard over the sound of the TV at times.
So my main requirement is something that doesn't make much sound. Apparently, both the Panasonic 620 and the Philips 730 are quite quiet - can anyone second that view? I've tried going into stores to listen to the things but neither Currys nor John Lewis were willing to set them up for me... :(
So anyone got a new quiet video they can recommend to me?
Thanks all!
My mother bought a new Sharp VCR at christmas and it is very quiet in operation, I'm not sure which model it is but it has only been out a few months and she paid £120 from BE Direct, so it could be worth a look
this is something that used to drive me potty, aswell. i used to hate loud vcr's but everyone thought i was being awkward:rolleyes:
i will say this though, when you first get a vcr it will be noisy, but after it's been "run in" it does tend to quiet down.
toshiba have quiet machines.
sony, panny and jvc are all noisy buggers, especially sony.
