Question:
erm, I put a CD in the tray upside down while half awake this morning and now it's stuck. All the player does is whir away and shows "Loading" on the display. All buttons (stop, eject, power on/off etc) stopped responding so I left it for about 15 minutes before switching it off at the mains. On switching back on it just resumed trying to load the disk.
Anyone know how long this should go on for before it realises the disk's in the wrong way?
Switch it off and remove the cover. There should be a manual eject mechanism just inside. Be careful not to electrocute yourself though. Make sure you don't touch any of the capacitors inside as they stay charged for some time
Thanks mate.
Will it invalidate the warranty in any way if I go messing inside it?

Yes when you take off the cover

Then that solution is no good to me as there's still 10 months of the (amazon) warranty left. Does the warranty cover the insertion of discs the wrong way up? :)
I'd have thought it should just give up after failing to read the disc and give me the opportunity to eject it.
Check to see if there is very small hole on the machine and use a paperclip and push in this will manually eject the disc drawer. Make sure you switch off. This small hole is common on all computers and dvd players. If not call pioneer support or send it to get fixed :)
On my 350 I have managed to put two discs in at once a few times and it always lets me eject. Also when I have put in a blank dvdr or a dvdr which is just data files and it still lets me eject. Maybe you have damaged something in the player?
Thanks for the responses guys. I've sorted it now.
I plugged it back into the mains and then held down the eject button while I pressed the power on button. The disc ejected straight away without it even attempting to read it :) Neat little trick that means I now don't need to wait while it reads whatever disc I left in each time I switch it on.
