Question:
I recently bought a new Philips DVD/TV combi and a new video for my bedroom but when I play VHS films I get a strange distortion along the bottom edge of the TV screen. Most of my pre-recorded films are in widescreen and so this is quite visible against the black bar. The really strange thing is I only get this distortion once it has gone dark outside.
My video and TV are connected via scart and I have tried everything I can think of to sort this problem. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how I should go about preventing it happening.

Have you tried connecting the video to the telly via 'good old' coaxial cable?? It might be worth tyring that and then tuning the TV to the video on the '0' channel. Worth a try, if not tried already.
It sounds a bit like the sort of distortion I used to get when I tuned my video into any channel other than '0' on my old set up.

Already tried that, but thanks anyway. :)
Sounds like a good excuse to buy some more DVD's !
One thing you could try is to connect the VCR to another telly with all the same cables etc. to make sure it's not the VCR at fault.
