Question:
Hi all,
Can anyone help me out here?
I have just been watchin a DVD movie, and notice that on my W/S TV, during quiet dark scenes, i can see a momentary blur or "Trail" following the characters as they are moving etc. It is like a very brief after-image!!
Can anyone advise me on this?
I have only noticed it watching a particular DVD, and while watching a particular film on Sky Digital!!!
any help would be great,
regards,
Mythorian
'Trails' are a consequence of poorer 100hz technology on a television. You do not say what make you have but i'm sure it will be a 100hz refresh rate.Standard is 50hz(which leaves flicker noticeable to the eye).
Fast motion should be the reason, and it should be most evident on football;if it is just the two films then it's just a strange anomaly.
Reducing your brightness setting somethimes helps
Thanks all for the replies..
My TV Is a JVC 28" W/S (Model: AV28CT1EK).
The trails only happen as i said in 2 films (so far) and only last momentarily.
Im glad that this is a known issue!!

I tried two JVC TV's (these were 50Hz sets) from Allders a few years back and they suffered from this problem too. Most noticeable on The Fifth Element at the beginning where there's bright white stars moving on a black background, the trails they left were terrible. In the end I went for a Sony which doesn't suffer from the problem.
I have a JVC 32WFT1 which also exhibits this problem, but only sometimes and it is not so bad as to be a major issue.
Guess the JVC's in general must suffer from this prob...Mine is like Beddies, it has em, but not bad enough to be a major prob, i was just curious to know what they were, and who else got em!!
Cheers all

I've got a cheapo (well £400) Goodmans 32" and I've noticed trails too,
as pointed out it tends to be during "darker" scenes:(
