Question:
I'm getting a Aiwa AVNW30 amp from Richer,
what kind of interconnect should I get to hook it up to my player,
I'm new to 5.1 so haven't got much of a clue
The easiest way to connect DVD player to amp is if the amp but if it has digital input for DVD then either use a optical or coaxial digital ouput from the DVD player.
If you use coaxial then you can use a standard single phono cable. Also, optical is not suitable if you will be putting the cable round bends (the optic cable can break). If that is the case use coaxial.
cheers!
The 709 doesn't have an optical out, so use a coaxial connector.
As nwgarratt says, a standard single phono cable will suffice.
Also, make sure any menus for the 709 has the digital out activated.
It's under "audio options" turn DTS to "On" (if you have a DTS capable amp) and Dolby Digital to "Bitstream" (it defaults to "PCM" which is digitally encoded stereo).
