Question:
Do I need to connect my dvd player to my amp using
Coax and Phono connections, or do I just need to use a Coax lead.
Will that handle analogue soundtracks ok?
My amp manual has got me all confused
so your input is appreciated!
Just the Coax lead will give you everything (Pretty Possitve)
Yep you should be fine, I have a Toshiba DVD player connected to a Sony Amp via a Coax cable and it plays normal CD's fine. Depending what amp you have it should identify what type of signal is coming down the line.
Quite a few movie DVD's have a 48khz 2 channel stereo intro screen, thats what my amp displays anyway. When the movie starts it then changes to 5.1 on the display.
If you want to hear DD/DTS then you need to use a coaxial or optical cable.
You can also connect to your amp using phonos. This will give you the option of using the DAC in your DVD player (using the phonos)or amp (using the coax/optical feed) when playing music CDs.
right, thanks guys. Just what I wanted to hear
