panasonic Q-Link feature
Question:

I purchased the Panny DMR-E30 DVD R a few months ago and have in the last week bought the Panny tx-28pl1. Both these machines have the Q-Link feature. On setting up the TV, the programs automatically tuned in and downloaded to the DVD as explained in the manual.
The main problem I have is using the DVD remote to function with the TV. There is no code in the manual for a Panasonic TV?? and when u switch the remote over to TV, nothing works.
I was thinking that as both machines are Panny and Q-Link that remote control with either controller would be automatic....
Has anybody had the same experience as me or looked into this further and found an answer. As u can imagine this is slightly frustrating as i have to have another remote control hanging around the house for the kids to hide!! and this was one of the reason why I went for a panny tv thinking that they would be compatible...
Your help or advise would be much appreiciated..
Regards
The Beej

It should work - both ways. I have a panasonic vid and the same tv as you and both can operate each other - no codes needed. Q-link not even required - that just sends the channel tuning and does the one touch record what I'm watching feature.
Suggest a call to panasonic tech help is needed.

Me too, no problems i've got a New panasonic tv and video and a 3 year old panasonic dvd player. All of which work together.
Not very helpful I know but it rules out them changing their remote standards.

When I got my DMR-E30 last Sept. I did not have to change anything on the DMR-E30 remote to work with my Panasonic TV, One thing to remember is that something like Channel up and Down will not work on AV mode you will have to switch over. Check the DMR-E30 manual to see if there is any Panasonic codes for the remote, Also I think there is option within the DMR-E30 to return to Shipping Condition setup so that you can start again with the setup of the DMR-E30. I wished the DMR-E30 remote also worked my Panasonic VCR in my setup :)

Does that set up allow you to watch Tivo via the RF distribution?

Answers:

Yes and all controlled by Philips Pronto :), I also disabled the RF output on Panasonic FTA box as I can view the FTA box via TiVo VCR input as I don't very often archive to Tape anymore mainly to DVD. But when the DMR-E30 is switched on it can output the signal from the TiVo out the SVideo output of the DMR-E30 back to the Video.
I have cheapy Himage DVD player on my 15" Bedroom TV so I have disabled the RF Output on the DMR-E30 but the DMR-E30 is still able to record from the ariel, So only the TiVo and VCR output an RF signal, It all seems to work very well though there are probably a few other ways I could set this up but I am happy with it this way.
