Best MIDI HiFi advice please
Question:

Had hoped to pick up a Sony MF1606 NX Mini System as advertised on the bargain forum but they are now out of stock...
I'm looking for a hifi (preferably a compact size) but it must have:
RDS stereo
Digital / optical output (so can conect to my Sony MD deck)
3 CD changer
<£200
Am I asking the earth?
Any advice on best models / online retailers would be gratefully recieved. cheers
:)

The obvious choice for sound quality is the Denon D-M30 - but it'll cost you around £200 without speakers and only has a single disc. It does have optical out though.
But that's what I went for....and I also chose the Mission-designed speakers that partner it. You could go for something like the M71's instead, but the Denon speakers are very very good.
The main unit is here (http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=DM30EXSPKRS&S=8cc8eefc6884a554ec22e392d52a3431) and the speakers are here (http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=SCM50)
£260 all in - and not much in this niche market will touch it for performance.

I appreciate the recommendation but as I said the system must meet the following requirements:
RDS stereo
Digital / optical output (so can conect to my Sony MD deck)
3 CD changer
<£200
But thanks anyway - anyone else?

I would seriously look at the Denon despite it not exactly matching your criteria (maybe save a little more money up first?). It will blow away anything else in that price bracket for quality. Also is there a specific need for the 3-CD changer?

Answers:

Try the Denon M50 - same as M30, but with 3 cd changer.

A 3CD changer makes it a lot easier to compile compliation discs on to a Minidisc for the car...

No it means I can queue up 3 discs worth of tracks in one go, leave it to record so I have the time to carry on with all my Charity work - which I don't like to talk abaout! ;)
