I'm thinking about buying a system and, given a budget of about £600, I'm looking at the Sony DAV-C770 and Pioneer HC550 systems.
Can anyone recommend either or suggest a similarly priced alternative?

if looking at the HC550, look at the HC51 also, cheaper all you are paying for really is the style as the VSXC550 is the same spec as the VSXC100, and the DV550 is the Dv454 but with jpeg viewer. Main difference other then sytle is speaker pack.
OR you could go for something like the VSXC100, DV350, and a tannoy FX5.1 which would be in the region of about £550 through the bargain forums as you`re a forum member:)
