"Tracking" on dvd :(
Question:

K, I've just got my things back from China including my Xindak XDV2100 DVD player (does NTSC AND PAL Prog Scan :) ). Connected it up with my Tosh32Zd26 last night and gave it a trial run with R1 SPR DTS in Prog Scan mode. Everynow and again, there would be a blue at the very top of the screen like VHS would used to if the tracking wasn't set correctly.
Anyone else had this problem before? What's it likely to be? Laser? DVD? Compatibility? Tosh's prog scan problem? Any other ideas? Kind of hoping it might be laser problem so I can claim on the relocation company's insurance for £500!

sometimes I get this on my pioneer 350, it happens when there is a completely black screen which somtimes happens inbetween menus or just before the film starts. I have no idea why though :)

Does it occur when the screen is black or very dark ?
If so it's because the settings for NTSC are wrong and you're seeing the "flyback" lines - do a search on avforums.com or here as it's come up a few times. Usually you need to adjust the service menu settings to get rid of it

No, I can't say I noticed it was just during black scenes or dark scenes. I might try watching it again and see if you guys are right though.
Hey phil, you never got back to me in October-ish time to let me know whether you wanted the XDV1100. Good job really since i had a bit of a hassle with all the things i bought and only just got them back yesterday even though i've been back in the UK since Nov 20!!!

Hi swinny
No problems, I decided against it in the end what with the waranty issues, thanks for the offer though

Any other suggestions. I've noticed that it happens more when during loud scenes. Could this be caused by speakers to close to tv or anything like that? Speaker and mains cables running parallel to the component video cable?
