Question:
Just got a new sub unit today, replacing my busted Mordaunt Short MSW-20. When it's switched on, a slight amount of mains hum is audible. Is this normal, or should sub units be silent? (Except when they're not rumbling)!!:D
Quite common to get hum if the length of the interconnect is over 2/3 metres especially if it is not very well shielded.
What is your new sub make and model?
Try moving the cables away from everything else. Also try disconnecting the earth from the plug.
I had this problem, uprated my sub cable to IXOS much higher quality and ... no hum !
