jason
Is that the only one available ?
The Arcam is the only machine with true Pal progscan. One of the main guys responsible for Pal progressive is from Arcam so thats why the "First" true player is an Arcam. Read the review in this months Home Cinema Choice ( page 66 if you want to browse in WHS ).
The other option which I am considering myself is a Denon 2800Mk2. This has all of the above needs, and can be had for around £600. Have a look at http://209.167.103.167/dvd2800mkii.htm This is the only place I have seen advertising like this. :D

that's not true at all... there are lots of machines with "true" pal progressive - and have been for 12-18 months.
for example...
the original denon 2800 (available for 18 months)
philips 962
philips q50
arcam dv-27
arcam dv-88p
current models would probably include:-
philips 963
denon 3800
harman kardon dvd 25
limit 9900
tosh 9000
arcam dv-88+
as for the main guys responsible for pal progscan - I presume you are talking about John Dawson at Arcam - he's certainly pushed for pal progressive to be accepted by the dvd forums/ committee and should be congratulated for that - but he is not "responsible" for it as a technical achievement / standard on dvd players.
Pal progressive as a video format has been available for years.
the only difference is that a dvd player outputting pal ps out of the box wasn't allowed by the dvd committee standards.. illegal in their terms. if it did it after the fact by remote hack/ firmware, then that was a way around the problem.
now the situation is clearer - its not illegal for a player to do pal ps when tested.

I'd recommend you test a denon 2800 mkII out,
I've had both this and the original version and they showed serious digital artifacting with a big percentage of disks.
it also has the chroma bug - and will never have a fix see avsforum for confirmation of this.
the denon 3800 doesn't have these artifacting problems and has got a fix for the chroma bug.. expensive though.
the arcam dv-88+ also has the chroma bug so worth checking out when demo-ing.
the philips 963 if you can get one looks good for the money...
Thanks for the clarification MartinC. Maybe I should have wrote "Legel" instead of "True".
being absolutely correct, its still not 100% legal to the dvd committes to have a pal progscan player.. just not illegal any more if you see the slight distinction?
basically, a dvblind eye to all intensive purposes... (they being Macrovision I guess)..
thats why the Arcam dv88+ is the world's first Macrovision Certified pal ps dvd player.. - a key distinction.

I've got a Philips 963SA outputting glorious 625p into my PTAE-100, and it's a stormer. Got mine from HiFi-Bitz - a bit more expensive than some (£370 delivered) but I had it back in December, and they replaced it on Saturday (cosmetic damage - there was a scratch on the front) so they clearly have stock.
I have the Philips 963SA. Got in early November (£342 delivered from The Netherlands), and its a cracking bit of kit.
CD playback is also EXCELLENT, and as a bonus is does SACD as well.
Much better than the (much more expensive) Pioneer 737 it replaced.
yeah i too had an early denon 2800 loved the look of the player felt absolute quality but very bad problems with artifacts so watch out!!!
