Headphones
Question:

I am after a set of decent quality headphones mainly for computer and portable walkman use, any recommendations before I hit the shops?
Also any one using a cordless type?

Answers:

Sennheiser's are superb for larger headphones. Not sure about cordless one though, but I would have though that they are heavy and need batteries replacing (but I've never used them so not sure on that)

What sort of price range ? I have a pair of Sennheiser HD497's cost me about £40 from Richer Sounds

Answers:

I recently bought some of the new Sennheiser PX200's and they are utterly superb.
The are very compact, fold, isolate a huge amount of external noise, and suffer very little leakage.
Recommended.

I Agree, Sennheisers make superb headphones, got a pair from Richer Sounds in 2001 can't remember what model, but they seem to mostly get good reveiws

Try the BeyerDynamic 231's for under £40 - Won What Hi-Fi Awards 2 years running. they're reasonably small but pack a lot of bass.
I use them with my portable DVD and MP3 player.

I've a pair of DT231's as well - and they are great - but they have a stupidly long cable which deterred me for mobile use.

I've got some Sennheiser HD580s (bought back in 2001 for £60) and they're excellent. Admittedly they were reduced from £200 and aren't normally as cheap as £60 :)
Do a search for headphone and you will find some other threads with advice on options.

Good as the 580's are (my main home listening 'phones), they're not ideal for portable use....

:) True but he also mentioned PC use and cordless types (which wouldn't be for walkman use) :)
Unless there are cordless walkman type headphones - but I'm not up to date with the latest tchnology so dunno if they exist

If you're looking for in-ear phones, the top of the line Sony ones are the best you'll hear. They're about 35 quid, and are extremely comfy.
Alternatively, if you want similar earphones on the cheap, you can check out:

Another vote for Beyerdynamic DT231 Galactic.
Great sound, very comfortable, great value for money. Reminded myself how good they were the other day when I unplugged the in ear phones which came with my quite pricey (for a cassette walkman) Panasonic and plugged in the DT231s. What a revelation. I used to have a pair of similarly priced (about £40) Sennheisers - can't remember what model number - some years ago. Good though they were I think the DT231s are better.
