Question:
The reason I ask is that i have a BTEC BT21S 4 scart thingy bob, it has an SVHS connection on there. I have it setup to send every input to my Sherwood R525 amp so i get better audio. I have had to borrow my DVD's scart Lead for the connection between my TV and the BTEC so my DVD player is no longer connected to anything.
I need the audio and video to be sent from my LG 3350e DVD player through the BTEC and then onto my TV and the audio through my amp.
Will an S-video cable be sufficent?

S-VHS and S-Video are 2 different things.
S-VHS is a higher resolution version of VHS
S-Video is a picture-only format that can be carried via an S-Video cable or SCART. It won't carry audio.

Scart can carry audio (and usually does). It can also carry RGB and S-Video signals!
right thats what i thought, if thats the case in theory i could connect my dvd player to my BTEC by scart (sending both audio and video) only and then it would send the audio through the BTEC to my amp, yes?
If this is so why does my DVD player also have audio L/R ?

You DVD Player has L/R out as if you connect through S-Video then you need audio, and you can direct connect to amp from DVD to avoid another hop so giving slightly better quality.
I presume you only have stereo or DPL an dnot DD/DTS digital surround on your amp?
And whats a BTEC? Is this just a make of TV I've never heard of?
BTEC is the manufacturer of my scart switcher from http://www.beyondhifi.net/
my amp does DPL but i only have 2 speakers at the mo so its not really an issue.
