Question:
As we are decorating our front room at the moment I have convinced the wife that now is a good time to install a surround sound package
Problem is I only have around £300 for the amp and speakers. Looking around it seems the two packages that catch my eye at the moment are the Digitheatre Platinum, £270 from Komplett (http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/k.asp?ck=1&r=1&action=info&s=sr&p=31050&AvdID=1) and the Sony HTSL5, £240 from Empire Direct (http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetailsnew.asp?modelcode=SON-HTSL5&affiliateid=65). Anyone have any good/bad things to say about these products - or any alternatives. So far I am thinking the Sony is a better purchase because 1) it has a bit more power, 2) seperate amp and centre speaker. However the Digitheatre has some very good reviews. Hmm, i'm torn :noid:
Advice please :dork:
edit: oh yes and the Sony has Prologic II
Thats sub looks awful:gag:
Havent even heard of this set before so i cant compare. All i can say is i have a digitheathre and its bloody great:clap:  :notworthy
Well worth every penny and i wouldnt swap it. Id go for the digitheatre any day of the week.
If you do go for the Sony HTSL5 then i advise that you dont buy it from Empire direct. I have bought things from them twice now and their service is the worst i have ever delt with.
A mate of mine got the Sony last week - it's not at all bad, and I was surprised.
The centre channel seemed excellent with dialogue as well.
The amp itself is very nice, well-built and very sleek - typically Sony. Add in a DPLII, DTS and a stylish remote and £240 gets you a lot for your money.
Cheers for the info guys
The sub will be out of sight so I don't really care what it looks like. Looks like Sony it is.
