Mission dipolars or Eltax?
Question:

I need some rear speakers and was thinking about getting dipolar ones but suddenly thought although i'm putting them on the rear wall they may be quite close to the side walls. Will this give a peculiar sound or will it just disperse the sound better?

Answers:

Best to put them on the side walls, if possible

Answers:

Mission dipolars are great m8
Go for it

Hey . This is the sort of feed-back that is great. Richer Sounds have got these speakers and I have got the female go-ahead because they "look right". I may just have to audition them.

Answers:

you can even put the high above near the ceiling turned upside down ! they really are versatile speakers

I've just edited my headline because the man at Richer-Sounds reckons that the Eltax Linear Respons B6 is better and has told me to try it. Is he right? Anyone know of any write-ups on it?

Answers:

Check to see if they have the Missions in stock first, Richer are renowned for recommending what they want to shift first.

No competition : go Mission, avoid Eltax :)

I can't comment on the Eltax but I can say that the Missions are superb. Have them a few feet above listening or as advised upside down right to the ceiling either side of you. You can even use a second pair behind as the 6.1, or 7.1 if you have the kit to do it. If doing the latter make sure you give enough space for them to breathe ro you wont feel the affect as it should be - -anything over 4 feet is what Ive been advised as a good judge.
I can also confirm that RS do have a tendancy to try and sell you what they are trying to get rid of as opposed to what you want and need - - but in this situation I would say the Eltax are the only speaker of same design they sell in a similar price range worth looking at.

I love my Missions, the best bit is that when you mount them upside down, you can turn the logo upside down too. :D

I have Eltax HT2s, they are fantastic for the money. I paid 90 quid for them from RS.

Not true, I was looking at dipolars for rears and eventually settled on the Gale 3060s (available in a beech-y colour - necessary for pleasing the other occupant :) ). These were £80, also from RS (what's a guy to do?) and I justified them over the Eltax HT2s because I figured that as the Gales were brand new they might be built better, or use more advanced cones... or something...

Why?
The HT2s are a very old design and, let's face it, are a "budget" brand.
Mission speakers are very well regarded, and their dipole speakers are just so much more versatile than the Eltax counterparts : as other posters have stated, they can be hung upside down on the ceiling : you'd have a job doing that with the HT2s :)

Hey Clayts, your everywhere these days.......
My answer in regards to RS should have simply stated IMHO they try to sell what they want to sell b4 what may be best for you. However, I alsp believ if you do a bit of searching on the web you will find many people stating this.

Yes, I was actually agreeing (in a fairly obscure way) : see my posting here (http://217.33.154.203/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=153830) on the supplier's forum :)

If you want to mount them upside down how do you turn the label over? It doesn't want to move and I don't want to crack it

They should just pull out - turn'em over and click them back in. I'm late to this thread but I'll put a big thumbs up for the Missions upside down on my side walls - superb sound with movies and music !!

Yes they pull out |-

Richer have both the 70DS and 77DS allegedly in stock for 99 quid a pair. Anyone got any thoughts on which is the best? I know the 77DS are the newer model, but I remember opinions pointing to the older ones as a better bet. I have M73s up front.
