well i could just get my coat but to some of you experts the cables and plugs etc. all cause back ground noise don't they, mind you i didn't look at the price.... was it bad?

£100 for an 8 socket adaptor.
You guys might want to check out Russ Andrews Accessories (not sure if they've got a web site). They sell incredibly expensive mains cables, sockets and other stuff, £100 would probably only buy a single socket from them if you're lucky. They also have loads of information about noise from the mains. I'm on their mailing list so get their brochure every-so-often but I've never bought anything from them.
