Mico DVD Player @ Sainsbury
Question:

Sainsbury are doing a Mico DVD player for £89.99. It has component out, optical & coaxial digital out & built in 5.1 decoding. Has anyone bought one of these players and if so are they any good?

Answers:

Yep I have but as for any good I'm not too sure. Initial impressions were excellent especially since I'd heard the old ones were a it dodgy. It seems to do what you'd expect and as you mentioned it has excellent features for the money. Speking of Money mine only cost £70 so I'd check we're talking about the same player. Mines called a Mico Diamante. It's fairly slim and looks good apart from an annoying blue neon light on the front.
The only problem so far is it doesn't seem to play VCD/SVCD format. This is a real pain in the a**e hense why I'm trolling the discusion forums to find out if it should or not and whether I'm just being a dum ******. If anyone knows please reply.

Answers:

The VCD upgrade disc for the Diamante 3000 is now available.
Upgraded mine and it plays VCD's a treat. Nice little player.
Phone the helpline number on the box for info.

Just wanted to confirm that there is deffinately an upgrade cd available from the helpdesk and that fixes the VCD/SVCD problem. Works great now. I'm well impressed. Also found out that the Scan, Maplin and Dixon brand DVD players are all made by Mico, so If you are worried about bying an un heard of brand - don't.
