Question:
Thanks for looking folks.
I just bought a Pioneer dv 350 last week and i have just tried putting in some DVDR's and none of them work. Its saying cant play disc but its showing on the small display that a dvd is in. It also seems to be having trouble reading a VCD which i know works perfect as it does on the PC. Is it the dvd player thats no use? the website says its DVD, CD, VCD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW compatable??
Ihope you can help folks?
could it be because of the software used to burn the DVDr?

Did you use Nero? I've heard that there are problems playing DVDs burnt using Nero on Pioneer players.
Try a different type of burning software
Yeah they were mate. Nero was the tool used to burn them. What others are there?
Clone CD (http://www.elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/index.html)
I could be wrong here, but CloneCD won't burn DVD's will it?
Easy CD Creator can burn DVDs. I haven't tried as I don't have a burner but the option is there in the menu.
There are some other options here: http://www.burnworld.com/software/dvdburning/dvdburning.htm
Also worth checking out http://www.mediaforums.net/forum/index.php as there a loads of people who burn DVDs there and can advise on the best software to use.
www.vcdhelp.com might be usefull also
