Question:
Guys,
Anyone know what the norm is with regards to dead pixels on active TFT displays???
Just got a small one, and there's one "green" pixel. It's surprising how incredibly annoying it is :(
I'm about to ring the supplier up, but before i do, is there anything i need to know with regards to getting this changed.
At the end of the day, is it down to the supplier's discression???
Thanks
Paul

Kenwood unit.... not sure what brand screen internally..
Can you not just kill it and say it was dead on arrival?
I could i spose....... :)
Phone someone else who sells the same screen and ask them the policy on dead pixels, if yours is within the limit (which it probably is) then kill it and contact the company you bought it from saying it was doa.
Hmm.. saying that it DOES have an intermittant fault on the on/off switch.....
Would i get away with this as an excuse for a replacement d'ya think?? :)
No, really it does!!!
Paul
Souds good to me ;)
Have you tried massaging the dead/stuck pixel..?

Tel,
For a couple of minutes i thought you were pulling my plonker, then realised that it's actually true!!!
I'll have to give it a massage when i get home then :norty:
Paul
I was in a computer suppliers shop at the weekend and there was a TFT monitor that had been returned with 3 dead pixels and the manufacturer would not take it back unless it had a minimum of 7 dead pixels, They was just about to take a magnet to it when I left..:shocker:
yes its generally about 6 or 7 pixels, depends on the manufacturer
If it's a Sony, ferget it! Absolute **********!
My TFT had 3 dead pixels out of the box and they refused to do anything about it; even the assistant-MD of Sony UK called me and spouted off the "within our acceptable tolerance level" at me!
Never will I buy Sony anything again!
Of no help to you Paul ...
But I see that CTX now do a 15" TFT with a guaranteed zero dead pixels for 101 days  - and a 3 year onsite warranty

Most mfgs quote 99.99% perfect. Which works out at about 6 or 7 bad as being acceptable.
does this dead pixel thing consider where they are as well?
I think it can just about accept a few dead pixels but not if they were in the middle part of the screen.
Wonder how Paul got on with massaging the offending pixel..?
Hope he hasn't gone too far and offered it "extras".. :gag:
