Question:
Hopefully going to get a Marantz 6300 tomorrow :D:D:D Anyone used this system who can comment? I've also considered the 4300, 5300 and 7300 anyone got any comments on them?
Also, Richer Sounds seem to be strongly recommending the Eltax Liberty 5.1 system, saying its better than the Mission 7 (think thats what they were called.) I'm a bit concerned these could be very high profit items, hence why they're pushing them rather than the fact they are genuinely great speakers. Any comments?
Thanks for any help guys. :)
How much have you got for speakers?
Richer Sounds ALWAYS pushing the Eltax systems, because they get more commision selling them. If you have the money, get a B&W 602 front, 601 rear and a B&W centre from another HiFi Dealer. Much better sound, but if you have to buy one or the other, get the missions. I wouldn't have eltax if you paid me !
Richersounds work off there stock levels, if they have plenty of Mission in they tell you theyr the best and when they low they tell you theyr over rated. cant be trusted at all, its best doing your own research and then buy from them.
Edit: raymondo got there first, but eltax do sell some very good products.:rocker:
I've got the SR7200 and the Eltax speakers won't do your 6300 justice - I'd spend at least £500 on speakers to make the amp worthwhile. If you go for a 602/601/LCR60 combo you're looking at £750, plus a sub (allow at least £300).
If the choice is between Eltax and Mission, I'd go for Mission.
Let us know your budget and we'll be able to advise better.
Prob around £700-£800 is what I'm looking at spending in total. Thanks for the advice so far :D
Have you got a sub?
No I haven't, but I intend to get one. Is that impossible with this budget?
No - but personally I'd get some decent speakers and then save for a sub.
If you're using the system maily for AV rather than music, you could, on the other hand, look at B&W's VM1 package (£875) or KEF's KHT2005 'Eggs' (£750 or thereabouts).....
Is that £850 just for the speakers? Or does that include the Amp as well. I'm looking at spending about that much for both
