Question:
Currently got my Pioneer 656 connected to my Yammy 496 receiver using both optical cable and a 6 wire phono connection.
Currently use optical mode for films etc and the 6 wire (external decoder option) for DVD-A and SACD.
Question is, am I better off using the Amp as the decoder for films or letting the dvd player do the decoding and just passing the signal straight through a la DVD-A?

I did - it sounds better through the amp - I think.
