Japanese DvDs!!!
Question:

Hi.
What do I need in order to play a Japanese Region 2 (NTSC) DvD?
I have a multi-region DvD player and a PAL television, but I am not sure whether the Japanese DvD will be compatible?
Can anyone give me some info.
Thanks forum!
Bailey.

Welcome to the forums :)
Your DVD player should be OK but you'll need a NTSC compatible TV, or PAL60 if your dvd outputs this, or just any PAL TV if your dvd converts to PAL50.
What dvd player do you have?

I have a Toshiba SD220 multi-region...
Does this mean I need a television which automatically switches from PAL to NTSC accordingly...? Are there converters one can buy? Do NTSC DvDs damage hardware if used incorrectly, e.g: putting an NTSC DvD through a PAL television...
Thanks for your help.

Most modern TVs will happily handle either (or both):
a pure NTSC signal or
a 'hybrid' PAL60 signal.
If you've ever bought and played an R1 disc then you have already proved that your setup can cope.
The region code on the disc has no effect on the signal it produces.
You should be able to establish from the TV's manual whether or not it can replay pure NTSC. If this isn't mentioned then it may well still be able to reproduce the PAL60 hybrid. This latter ability is rarely mentioned as a feature however.
If you tell us what the TV is, we may be able to help you some more.
And, in answer to your final Q, you are unlikely to damage anything by trying it. The worst that will happen is that the picture on the TV will be either blank, or will roll so badly as to be unwatchable.

email staff@Here.com and say which account you want deleted. We could've actually just changed your originala ccount username since you've only just registered.
