Question:
This damn machine is busting my guts. It won't upgrade to region free with remote hack. I finally got the firmware upgrade and it still won't work. Can anyone help?
Process:
1. The upgrade is a nero file so I am copying it to a cd using nero. Is this right? (seems to work ok)
2. Put it in the DVD player and supposed to get "cderr" but all I get on screen is a directory entitled "mp3" with seemingly empty folders and a parent one which opens up to an empty daughter folder. the handset and dvd controls do nothing.
According to the blurb the disc is supposed to make the dvd player produce cderr then some sort of countdown.
I guess it's me that's at fault here.

The problem was (apparently) that I saved the file under MP3 format. I have been told to save as VCD format - now don't ask me how to do this, but somehow I did it and ..... the advertised steps of the upgrade work fine!!!
BUT .... it will play R1 discs but has multiple images on the screen .... Grrrrr...
