Question:
i have just purchased a lg micro dvd hi-fi system from comet.
model no ffh-dv25.
i have set it up,and watched a few dvds on the system, and i am pleased with the picture and sound.having been a novice to all things dvd.
the unit came with 3 small speakers, two rear and one centre.
there are also two larger speakers for the front.
however it never came with subwoofer, there is connection at the
back for this speaker.
in the book its says you require a active subwoofer.
all very confusing to me!!
do i need a subwoofer for this dvd, to bring out the best in this
set up?
if so can anybody suggest a subwoofer, reasonable priced,as i am on a budget.
thanks
allan
By active subwoofer - it means one with an amplifier built in.
Take a look at www.richersounds.co.uk for one. The cheapest they have is £39.95
The Gale at £49.95 should be better (it has 60 watts power and auto switches on/off )
You probably are not missing too much by not having one though. Especially if the two main speakers are large enough to produce a bassy sound.
Check if there is an option to in the set up to say that a subwoofer is not being used (which should divert the subwoofer channel to front speakers). Or there may be an option where you can direct the bass to the front speakers.
