Question:
I have a samsung 709 & a sony tv that will run 50/60 hrtz. I have started to notice that region 1 discs look jerkey compared to
region 2 got an idea this might have something to do with ntsc frame rate. Can anyone tell me if changing to 100 hrtz would
cure this
NTSC 3:2 pulldown..
100hz won't cure it.. Only way to get rid of it is with prog-scan enabled equipment or use a HTPC..
Have you set the Samsung to convert NTSC discs to PAL @ 50Hz?
If so, the output will be noticeably jerky. Set the player to output true NTSC @ 60Hz, and you should notice a big improvement.
Generally speaking, R1 discs look fine. The 3:2 pulldown makes pans and motion a little jerky, but it's only really noticeable if you're looking for it. A few hardcore PAL-heads get upset by it though :D
