DTS output to a DTS TV question
Question:

My Day just got a Panasonic TX32PB50C 5.1 equipped DTS TV and wants a DVD player to go with it. I recommended the Tosh 220 form Amazon.co.uk (multiregion) but when I thought about it, how is it actually possible to get DTS sound form the DVD player to the tV? The TV has 6 speaker phono inputs, but the DVD player doesn't have the outputs does it? Does that mean that he won't get true DTS sound from his setup? Is the only way round this to get a 6 channel output DVD player?
Help!
Thanks

If it's a DTS equipped TV then it should have a digi input on it..
If it hasn't, then it's not..

Info on the TV here: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/product/tauflatscreentv/TX32PB50.htm
According to that it has:
Optical Input / Coaxial Yes(*2)
So your dad should be able to use either an optical or coaxial digital lead to get the signal from the DVD player to the TV

You don't get a co-axial or a digital cable supplied but you can pick 1 up easily enough. Run it from from your co-axial or digital output on your DVD player to one of the inputs on the TV and away you go. Remember and turn on the digital output signal on the menu of your DVD.
The 6 phono outputs are there if you want to use your own AV amp.

Agree with you all - I have a Panny 36PB50 and a pioneer 454 (now!!!) used to use Pana A110 old DVD player...
suggest use the optical cable and not coax as theres more inputs for these, plus I got a bit of nasty noise when I used the coax digital.
www.7dayshop.com has a decnt one for just over a tenner that I use.
PS Go with 8-] and get the 454, it is better than the Tosh 220E -
Wow my player from Amazon came today
1) Slimmer than Tosh 220E
2) Sexier front and display than Tosh 220E
3) Easier to set up than Tosh 220E
4) Better menus than Tosh 220E (esp MP3 folders etc)
5) Better Picture (just) than Tosh 220E
6) Definitely more compatible than Tosh 220E - tried various home burned VCD and SVCDs and they played excellently
7) More solid box than Tosh 220E
However
1) Worse remote than SD220E (just)
2) Back Panel connectors are less well made than 220E
3) Audio surround thing not as good - like I care cos I use the optical out into my Panasonic 36PB50 DTS and DD
4) Can only fast forward VCD and SVCD at 2 speeds - worse than 220E
So overall, this wins.
I couldn't get the MP3 filename to scroll across the LCD display - anyone been able to get this to happen?
thanks a lot 8-]
