Question:
I need to get a player for my folks for Xmas, I like the look of the Tosh 120, 125, 220 and the Pioneer 350. Which of them play VCDs and MP3s, if I go to Richer's site it states none of them play VCDs, is this true?
Which would you guys go for? I'm tending towards the Pioneer at the moment, but will it play pretty much anything out there?
Tosh 220E and Pioneer 350 both play VCD (and SVCD ,MP3, DVDr )
Tosh 120 does not play VCD or MP3. The 125 model i have never heard of :D
The Tosh 220 or the Pioneer 350 are both very good players. Which is better for you depends on your priorities ;)
The Pioneer does not have an optical digital output, and is reputed to be picky with less than perfect discs (scratches or dirty discs affect the player)
The Tosh is less picky , but does have lip-synch problems playing SVCDs (easily cured by cycling through the audio channels though).
There have been quite a few posts from people having problems with the Tosh 220 bought from Richer Sounds. It could be they bought a duff batch. I would recommend buying elsewhere if going for the Tosh .
If you want multiregion though, make sure you buy one ready modified if going for the Pioneer (a multiregion firmware download is available on the net for the Tosh 220 )
