Mass Loading Speakers
Question:

I have a pair of Tannoy R2 speakers and I've been thinking about loading the cabinets, more for extra stability than improving the sound (we have a little girl who's not far off trying to stand ;) ). What kind of material would people recommend using and where is the best place to get it?
Cheers.

Yeah they are a bit narrow aren't they.. Had to dive full length across the room once to catch mine..
I used fine bird grit to fill mine.. not quite as dense as sand, but at least you can guarentee it'll be bone dry..

Just a bit, they could do with a plinth or something similar for them to stand on.

Interesting choice ;), do they sell this at most pet shops?

I used sand to fill my speaker stands. I got it from the Early Learning Centre (~£5). :) If you're worried about it not being dry try baking it for a short while in the oven.

You can get proper stuff to fill them with - like lead shot but in a plastic tub. Pretty sure Atacama make it.
EDIT - Yep - This is the stuff (http://www.beyondhifi.net/shopping/MoreInfo.asp?ProductID=564&CatID=120)
