Question:
Now I've been hearing a fair amount about the Bose Wave Radio/CD. All sounds a bit too good to be true (although if you get what you pay for then I guess it must be really something).
So, anyone got one of these? And are they any good?
I'm after a new CD player and I don't really want anything with trailing wires and speakers everywhere. Should I put my cash in Bose's hands for one of these?
nope.
The whole reflex base thing isnt new (yamaha use it for some of their cheaper subs). And it isnt clever.
And as its bose you'll pay through the nose too.
Not saying it sounds good/bad, havnt heard it, not even heard much against it but with bose you pay lots for the name and dont usualy get anything back in quality ( unlike rel/B&W etc).
I have heard the Bose Wave radio and it sounded fantastic, you cannot believe the sound you hear is comming from such a small box. I had a demo in a shop and even she who must be obeyed liked it enough to want one, then we got to the price, £350 or so, thats a lot so i didn`t get one as the wife only wanted it for the kitchen. it was too good.
As has been said in several threads about this recently, ignore it and go for a Denon DM-30 for less money and it will blow the Bose away for quality.
The only thing Bose do well at the moment are In-Car systems IMO (the one in my Acura is superb and the one in my old UK Honda was too)

:) Probably why they are good! But according to their website they actaully design them not just certify them (as they are "unique" to each model of car)
BOSE are very over rated if you want a fair review from people in the know you should head over to the www.avforums.com and ask the people there for a review.the problem you have is you dont want loads of wires etc so that rules out separates i guess, but if you do want the best then you have to pay a certain price an cables hanging out is the price in a separates system.besides the amount of cables you have depends on what your hooking up to it i have a full av setup an have a **** load of cables hanging out lol.but if all you want is a cd player radio an amp then there should be very few cables.
If you like the look of it, order one.
If you don't like the sound then send it back as I think they do a 14 day trial or something.
Lots of people slag off a brand without listening to it, which is as bad as blindly buying a brand because of "loyalty." Bose may not be the best sound for the price, but their product is lifestyle first and sound quality second.
My Dad bought one of these recently, sound wise it's good and considering the size of box, impressive, BUT, it only sounds good within a very limited listening arc. I left the room it was playing in and all of a sudden, tin box time. for £350 pounds there's an awful lot of choice, I'd listen to a lot of systems and almost certainly not get the Bose.
I considered buying the Bose wave radio/cd last year. In my opinion it is a lifestyle option. Small and compact, ideal for a bedroom end table and great for your wake up alarm (although an expensive one). I listened to it in showrooms and i thought the sound was very good. But in the end it is a lifestyle choice, for that money you can get much better mini or midi systems that sound better. In the end i ended up choosing a Nakamichi Sound space (I think it was 2 but it might be 3). It sounds great and fits into our bedroom just right.
:)

LOL ask them!! you have to buy the AV gear they recomend, with 12 months interest free(cash is frowned upon) it has to be bought online and you must have to extended warranties, ive alway found AVforums very backward and the mods are a joke, they close every single for sale thread for not following theyr dodgy rules. this place is best IMO.
i have used that forum for quite some time now an had a lot of good advice an also huge feedback on most posts .im not exactly sure what you mean when you say cash is frowned upon an it must be bought online etc its just for knowledge an feedback unless you wanna buy through the for sale forum part.also im not sure if people who are just like you an me do 12 months interest free lol.
I have the wave radio (no cd) but I think it is much the same kind of sound quality as the one with the CD. I am no expert on sound quality but i have it hooked up to my computer and it sounds *fantastic* esp when playing Medal of Honor and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Of course the radio and music CDs sound great too. But all i really use it for apart from computer games is the radio alarm clock, which is probably a crying shame!
Having said I'd never spend the kind of money it's worth to buy it - I fortunately got it from a factory sale! If you're happy enough paying that kind of money for such a teeny box then go for it, as hhalo said above it's more a lifestyle choice. If not buy good amp and a good set of floorstanders. My boyfriend got a set of mission M74s and a marantz amp for much the same price as the wave cd! (no cd player though, but the speakers are a heck of a lot louder than the bose!!)

Think you're a bit confused there. There are loads of reviews of every make of gear you could think of.
