It could be where the layer changes on the dvd, it can't be helped unless you go for a high end dvd player, on mine it has a buffer so it stores a few megabites of film in a 'cache' and then it will correct its-self and there's either no sign of layer change or very little. TBH the only layer change ive ever noticed was changing lanes ealier today.

do you mean freezes once in a film? If so then it's the layer change isn't it?
Ooops, sorry Wonderpants beat me to it!

my dvd player is placed on top of my video
should i just giv it its own place?
also im using its standard scart cable, does that matter?
this problem is really doing my head, im skint and i cant afford another player at the mo :(
so everytime the layer is changed the picture will always freeze?

It's better off with it's own shelve, so that air can circulate around it. If that is not feasible, it should be ok on top of your video.

It's definitely worth investing in a good scart cable, if you can afford it.

The layer change will only accrue once during the movie, if it is a dual layer disc. Which most disks are now.
You will have to put up with the pause for now, unless the DVD forum, in all their wisdom, decide to include seamless branching for layer changes, in their specs for dvd.

Some players are better at layer changes than others. Some Denon players have a buffer memory to eliminate the pause.

so iv got no choice but to live with the problem now

You'll get used to it, I did. And it better than having to physically turn the disk over half way through the film, as you used to have to do with flippers.

I've got a Denon A1 and some discs still have a visible layer change :brickwall
