Question:
Hi all,
My hi-fi has 6ch input which is ideal because my dvd player has a built in dd decoder and 6ch outputs but i now want to get my xbox through the hi-fi, are there any products that will just decode from dd optical into the 6ch outputs so that i can use my exsiting hi-fi and speakers. I know that a new av/amp is cheap enough, but i dont really want to replace my whole hi-fi and to add a new amp would mean a second set of speakers (apart fom that the amps are normally pretty big)
Any advice would be greatly received....
Sounds like what you need is a Dolby Digital/DTS processor.
Search here (http://www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/index.html) under processors for some reviews. I used to have a Technics SH-AC300, which served me very well until I upgraded.
The processor will allow you to input many digital devices, and will output to the 6-channel inputs on your amp.
I think one of these (http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/product_main.asp?&shopid=SHOPGCBJACDBBFXCKS5476XFQB1073FLHI3837&sku=305359) will do the trick. I haven't got one but I've heard very good things about them. Unbeatable are a good online retailer when they have items in stock which they appear to have with the Yamaha DSPE800.
Just read TechnoTim's post and I've got the Technics processor he's talking about but you'll find it hard to find it for sale anywhere, (it's an old model)...maybe ebay?
