But seriously,
I was broken into and the pioneer htd1 was stolen, the insureance company is giving me thee chance to get the htd5, or I can get something else. I was happy with the htd1 (they are great for playing cdr/vcd/svcd ra ra ra.... but they didnt play mp3.

But I actually thought that the htd5 was the newer model. Is that correct? It just that that the htd1 has more functions and is more expensive.

Not sure about exact specs (see techtronics (http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-pioneer-htd-5-multi-region-dvd-system.html) for a good htd5 spec list). Newer Pioneer models have generally dropped in price with same or higher spec which may explain the lower price.
EDIT: more power = louder and better quality sound (generally)
okay, now since I am really brainstorming you all :O)
I could never record from dvd to vcr. because of the macrovison, I did hook up a scrambler to the playstation 2 and that worked, I just couldnt afford $150au at the time, still cant mind you!! but I have been reading about scart cable and vcr mode?? Does that able me to record dvds? or is it just as easy to buy the scrambler?thankyou thankyou....:notworthy
