Question:
I know it not strictly dvd & home cinema related but I thought you guys would probably be able to help me the most.
I am looking for a good quality sound-system for my study. My budget is around £300 to £350. I only need CD & radio (MD would be nice but is not needed) and ideally the size would be as small as possible.
Should I be looking at seperates or a single unit(All the seperates I have seen are quite large.)
I have looked at the following denon system and I am quite impressed.

Has anybody any expierence of this or can recommend anything similar.
I think its this Denon ( or one very similar) that has won all the What HiFi awards for mini systems for the last couple of years, you can check in the recommended section at the back of the mag tho.
From memory you can buy a MD add on for this too should you want it.
I've got a Denon DF100 and am very happy with it and its sound.
If you are looking for something small but with good sound thats your man. The speakers it comes with are specifically designed by Mission for Denon so should sound good too.
However I'm sure you'll be able to find it way cheaper than John Lewis tho you may want their customer service I guess

Either Denon DM30/50 or the Teac Reference 100
I've got the Denon D-M30 in my den/study and it's the absolute business. Great sound with the Mission-built speakers, beautifully built and very discreet. Buy with confidence.
Buy with confidence.
I think he'd have more joy paying cash..

Perhaps its a new credit-card?
:p
You may also consider going a little experimental, seeing as it's a study. You could get an Epia 800 board (with chip) for 80 quid, a slim case with external power supply to make it really quiet for about 60. Add a hard drive and CDROM for 50 quid. Then add a pair of speakers and a cheap amp (power or integrated) and you have a CD and MP3 playing jukebox. Assuming you have a PC in your study, you can control it using that over a home LAN.
Just an idea....
Just
That looks alittle to much like hard work.
It may be worth getting the Denon without speakers and adding some of your own choice.
Whilst the Mission supplied standard speakers are pretty good, you may get a better/more personally preferred sound with some by another manufacturer.
