Question:
Richer Sounds offers 2 versions of the DVD321. Can anyone tell me if the £59.99 region 2 version is the same as the £69.99 multi region version without the slip of paper telling you how to make it multi region i.e. Am I paying £10 for a slip of paper? If it isnt, can the £59.99 version be made multi regional?
yes

Dont bother
Just had a so called multi region one delivered with a slip of paper that says its the hack.
tried the hack and it doesnt work.
Can set the VCD,Parental control and macrovision but not region.
So I would presume the firmware has been changed.
Richer sounds didnt even check this before shipping a virgin machine with the so called slip of paper...... Lazy ********.
I payed for a MR player and thats what it should be ..... Gits.
Anybody know what the difference is between the 321 and 421 models? The pricing does seem bizarre now i.e. the multi-region versions of both models are £69.95.
I've looked at the other related threads regarding hacks etc. Just wondering what the point of the 321 is (apart from £59.95 price point for region 2 only).
Cheers
The 421 has an LCD display as you'd expect, but eh 321 has not display at all. I think it's a lot smaller too. My house-mate just hought the 421 for his sister but hasn't tried it out yet.
Aha! Cheers for that. I looked at the pics on Richer Sounds website but didnn't sus that there wasn't a display!
I've had a 451 for a while and a mate's got the 421 - no probs at all so far. The easy macrovision off was crucial for me as I needed to put it through a vcr to get it on a portable tv in the kids room.
Looks like the 421 is still the best bet :)
Am gonna get one of these for the parents for Christmas I think - if it only lasts a year it's pretty much paid for itself, and I also need the easy macrovision off - multiregion won't be used till they get a new TV that can handle NTSC or PAL60! ;)
