Question:
I know its been discussed elsewhere on this forum that VCD playback is disabled on the new firmware on these players,
but after looking at http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1286&Search=Search&#comments
I took a risk and bought the player from Richer Sounds today. My question is, has anyone got one of these players with the new firmware and have they managed to get the VCD hack working? :brickwall
To answer my own thread, VCD playback is disabled by default, but can easily be enabled by using a remote control hack, as found on http://www.vcdhelp.com/
I tested a VCD on it last night and it played no problems..so I guess the answer is YES..IT CAN PLAY VCDS :)
Overall... a great player for the price!!!
(BTW Richer Sounds will tell you the new firmware CANT play VCDs, and will usually suggest the similarly priced Cyberhome DVD player ... but I still bought the Acoustic Solutions model cos of its really compace size ... fits beautifully in the video cabinet :) )
