A question for owners of video senders?
Question:

Hello all,
Can someone suggest which video sender would be a better choice? The Argos one is £79.99 compared to Tchibo's £40-er, so almost double the price, but are there any significant differences?
I think I read that the argos one supports true RGB, but I don't see as this is a major benefit for what I'd be using it for...
Its purely and simply so the missus can watch sky digital in the bedroom...
(and probably so I can watch Tivo'd stuff up there too once I cave in and buy one ;) )
Thanks for any advice.

Answers:

don't know about the Tchibo but I have the Argos one and it sends Sky and Tivo signals with no problems. Great picture too

Answers:

Maplin do one for £50, free delivery (Giga-Air 2020).

Hmm...the maplins one says stock available within 7 days...
Has anyone tried this too then? Might as well include it in the original question.

The Tchibo one works fine.. If you've got a Lidl near you get the same one for a few quid cheaper... (can't remember how much)

Answers:

My Tchibo sender makes the picture look crap (the colours go to intense and the contrast drops). It seems to be caused by the scart interface as the live picture is made worse as well. If I unplug the yellow video lead from the sender unit, the picture is fine.

Anyone else had the same problem as Colled?
I was going to take a trip to Lidl on the way home and have a look for these...

Answers:

I've got one of the Lidl senders and the picture seems fine on it to me. I was quite surprised at how good it was actually. From the short tests I've done using a dvd (Star Wars Ep1) and my PC TV Out I haven't noticed any problems with colour and contrast - the DVD picture looked great over a short distance. A short movie clip I played from my pc (transmitted from upstairs to downstairs)looked very good too - there certainly weren't any obvious video problems. It will depend on your house construction though - if you've a lot of walls/pipes between sender and receiver then you will get picture degradation.

Thanks to all that replied. I intend to take a look at Maplins at lunchtime, and failing that I'll order one from Tchibo.
Doh! Maplins out of stock but having some in a Tuesday.
Didn't I read somewhere that toys R us do a video sender?

Answers:

OK, renamed the thread now I have one (got one from Toys R Us, a Medion one).
Mines all in and working and I'm very pleased with it.
I have a question about the other makes though; do they come with the thin IR cable like the Medion one (you have to stick a diode on the devices you want to be able to control)?
Cheers.

Answers:

Yes the Tchibo one has the thin wire with diodes.
