Question:
Just recieved my Yamaha VS-10, hooked everything up okay today. I'm having trouble getting my DVD player to talk to the centre and rear speakers. They're hooked up correctly because the self test on the Yamaha works fine so it must be something to do with the way the output is configured on my player. I have a Yelo 800 which I bought just over a year ago from Second Spin (just before the price dropped, doh!), the manual is pretty useless (for a change!!!), it tells you how to get to each option but not, what it does. Is there anyone out there who still has one of these players that can guide me through this?
I have a Yelo 800 and might be able to help,
first tho, what connection are you using for audio between ya speakers and player?
Actually, it does sound alot like your speakers are setup to stereo or something, the Yelo should already be set to use all the speakers so long as you've connected it up right, ill have to have a better look at mine in a mo, see if i've forgotten something :)
Ok heres a list of options i have set:
General Setup:
Audio Output = SPDIF / RAW
Dolby Digital Setup:
Op mode = Line Out
Dual Mono = Stereo
Dynamic Range = off
I can't see any other options that would have any effect on rear/center speakers

I'm using the optical output (the only option I have on the VS-10) to the DD/DTS Amp, the speaker are hooked up via ordinary analog cable from the amp.
The only option you didn't mention was Speaker Setup menu which I presume should be set to Downmix = OFF
Downmix does'nt seem to actually do anything for me, it was on by default for ages and only recently turned it off but the speakers have all worked fine since i first hooked them up via optical.
Optionwise i can't really see what would be stopping your rear/center speakers from working :/
I'll give your settings a go this evening. Thanks for your help
As I recall, I had a bit of hassle getting the VS-10 speakers to work properly. One thing to check is the settings on the amp itself. As I remember, you need to set the DSP to 'Dolby Digital'

Ah-Ha! that did the job, thought it must be something obvious I overlooked.
Thanks Gents, I owe you both a pint!
I'm off to annoy my Neighbours with Lord of the Rings now:)
Good job :)
