Help needed with Sony subwoofer!
Question:

I have a Sony Pascal 5.1 system(...stop laughing now) which has recently developed a fault. When playing movies which have a lot of LFE, the sub emits a sharp popping noise. I have sent it to the workshop of my local home cinema dealer, but they say they can find absolutely nothing wrong with it...they have tested it thoroughly over a 2 week period and have cranked the bass right up, but could hear no popping. The first thing I did when I got it home was to run We Were Soldiers through it(...crap film by the way, but very deep bass), exactly the same popping noise, very loud and noticable...exactly the same as before!
Has anyone any idea what could be causing this? The workshop guys say they took it to pieces and tested it extensively...and I'm pretty sure they are not lying...very good shop!
...anyone?? ...I'm itching to play LOTR Extended version, but that makes it pop into overdrive!!! :)

Answers:

Could it be your amplifier? Mind you I have a pascal SAVE system too and have been through 2 subs which just didn't work at all. Touch wood it's been ok for 2 years now. Last time I buy Sony speakers.
I've never heard of the popping noise.
