I have just purchased the Pioneer VSX-C300S amp from Empire Direct.
Thinking about a new DVD player to go with it - the options are Pioneer DV-350/DV-454 or ToshibaSD220e - which is best for me?
Any comments on the Pioneer VSX-C300S amp as well would be appreciated...

The Pioneer DV-350/454 are more forgiving with different media and happily play a wide variety.
The Toshiba is less forgiving and has caused some people problems with VCDs and recordable media.
Some people have said that the Toshiba is slightly better picture-wise, but this is subjective and all three have excellent video quality
DV-454 includes all the new elements featured in the brand new DV-350 and now includes both coaxial and optical digital outputs.
So depending on whether you want that extra functionality or not you can choose between them.
Best prices currently seem to be:

You can get the Toshiba 220e from amazon for £119.99 delivered (use the Forum link at the top of the page = the bit that says "Support the Forums" and choose DVD and then amazon.co.uk then search for the 220e in the electronics section
VSXC300 doesn't have a coaxial input so you don't want the DV350.
So looks like its my old favourite the DV-454 then... :)
... or the Toshiba .... boo hiss....... just kidding ;)
I was about to order one of the Toshiba's, but then saw the Sony DVPNS305S for £117.99.
Does anyone have any views on which to buy, whats better, worth the money, etc?
